Strengthening Economic Resilience and Transatlantic Partnerships in a Fragmented World

Prishtina, April 30, 2026 – The American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo, in partnership with the Heritage Foundation, hosted a fireside discussion on “Economic Resilience, Security & Growth in a Fragmented World,” featuring James Carafano, Senior Counselor to the President and E.W. Richardson Fellow. Moderated by Petrit Selimi, the event brought together representatives from the private sector, institutions, and the policy community to discuss the evolving geopolitical and economic developments shaping global and regional stability.

In his opening remarks, Pleurat Hundozi, Member of the Board of Governors of AmCham, emphasized security, strategic partnerships, and long-term resilience as key principles for ensuring sustained continuity and stability in an increasingly complex global environment.

James Carafano highlighted that in an increasingly fragmented global environment, economic resilience is closely linked to the ability of countries to maintain stable institutions, ensure energy diversification, and foster long-term partnerships that strengthen investment confidence and support sustainable development.

The discussion focused on the implications of growing geopolitical tensions on global economic stability, with particular emphasis on energy security, reliable and affordable energy supply, and the role of strategic partnerships in strengthening the resilience of small economies.

The conversation also underscored the United States’ continued engagement in the Balkans through strategic agreements and partnerships aimed at reinforcing regional stability, promoting economic cooperation, and supporting long-term development across the region. Furthermore, it highlighted the importance for Kosovo to further define its geopolitical positioning, strengthen institutional resilience, and pursue consistent long-term sustainable economic growth.

The event concluded with an interactive discussion, where participants explored how Kosovo can more effectively articulate its value proposition as a stable, reliable, and forward-looking partner in the region, capable of contributing to regional stability, economic cooperation, and deeper transatlantic engagement in an increasingly complex global environment.
