Prishtina, June 17, 2026 – The American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo expresses its concern over the continued lack of consideration by the caretaker Government of Kosovo for the repeated calls of the United States Government to support Kosovo’s inclusion in the emerging regional LNG infrastructure and supply network.

At a time when Kosovo remains heavily dependent on aging generation capacities, electricity imports, and an increasingly volatile regional energy market, access to U.S. LNG represents not only an energy opportunity, but also a strategic choice. Diversification of energy sources, greater security of supply, and enhanced economic competitiveness should remain among Kosovo’s national priorities.

Particularly concerning is the fact that countries across the Western Balkans have voiced their commitment to becoming part of the regional LNG infrastructure being developed with strong support from the United States. Kosovo risks remaining outside a strategic regional framework that is increasingly shaping the future of energy security and economic development in Southeast Europe.

The American Chamber believes that Kosovo’s strategic partnership with the United States remains one of the country’s most important national assets. Consistently disregarding the positions and strategic priorities advanced by Kosovo’s closest ally carries the risk of affecting the quality and depth of that partnership over time.

We therefore call on Kosovo’s institutions to carefully reassess the long-term strategic, economic, and geopolitical implications of remaining outside regional LNG initiatives and to engage constructively with the United States on this important matter.
