Prishtina, July 3, 2026 – The American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo expresses its serious concern regarding today’s unprecedented inspection conducted at the facilities of Vita dairy company, one of Kosovo’s leading manufacturing companies, largest taxpayers, and a business that has played a defining role in the development of the country’s food processing industry and domestic production.

The deployment of such an extraordinary number of inspectors against a single company constitutes an unprecedented action that raises serious concerns about the proportionality, necessity, and purpose of the intervention.

While AmCham fully supports the enforcement of laws and the responsibility of state institutions to safeguard public health and consumer protection, these powers must always be exercised in a manner that is proportionate, professional, impartial, and respectful of legal certainty. Actions of this nature create the perception of selective and tendentious treatment, undermining business confidence and sending a troubling signal to both domestic and international investors.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo has voiced its concern of a deteriorating doing business environment due to growing legal uncertainty, institutional unpredictability, and inconsistent application of the law. Conducts such as this only reinforce those concerns and further weaken investor confidence in Kosovo.
