Prishtina, April 28, 2026 — The American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo had the pleasure of hosting a highly engaging and well-attended presentation with the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), focusing on the financing instruments available to support private sector growth and investment.
Led by Anthony Randazzo, Managing Director of the Office of Health and Agribusiness at DFC, the event brought together representatives of the U.S. Embassy in Kosovo, companies operating in Kosovo, as well as institutional stakeholders engaged in investment and financial services. It was also joined by Neritan Mullaj, Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Albania, further highlighting regional cooperation within the AmCham network.
The session highlighted DFC’s mandate and operational approach in supporting private sector investment in emerging markets, emphasizing its role in complementing private sector activity and addressing financing gaps where commercial capital is limited. Participants were introduced to DFC’s priority sectors, including energy and energy transition projects, critical infrastructure such as road and rail networks, healthcare with a focus on private hospital development, and financial services, including the modernization of payment systems.
During the presentation, Randazzo provided an overview of the institution’s financial instruments and project evaluation process, noting that financing typically ranges from USD 5 million to USD 1 billion, depending on project structure, risk profile, and eligibility criteria. The process includes financial, legal, and environmental due diligence and generally requires a 6- to 9-month period from initial assessment to approval.
The discussion concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where participants raised questions related to financing procedures for mining and critical minerals, bond instruments, capital monitoring processes, and documentation requirements for project evaluation. The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) reiterated its commitment to supporting viable and high-impact private sector projects in Kosovo and the broader region.
