Prishtina, January 29, 2026 – The American Chamber of Commerce in Kosovo expresses serious concern regarding the ongoing disruptions affecting the movement of goods and road freight transport between the European Union, regional transit corridors, and Kosovo.

We call upon the European Commission to urgently engage in identifying a balanced and sustainable solution to the current challenges affecting international road freight transport and cross-border supply chains.

Recent developments, including blockades of cargo border crossings by truck drivers in parts of the region, linked to the implementation and enforcement of EU entry rules and the Entry/Exit System (EES), are significantly hindering the movement of goods.

The smooth movement of goods and the uninterrupted functioning of road freight transport are essential for maintaining stable supply chains, supporting economic activity, and advancing economic integration with the EU Single Market. Disruptions are already affecting businesses through shipment delays, risks of contract breaches, financial losses, and the potential loss of international clients.

Given Kosovo’s high reliance on imports and regional transit routes, prolonged disruptions risk creating supply instability, increasing operational costs for businesses, and ultimately contributing to price increases for consumers. These developments may also negatively affect investment planning and financial obligations tied to production cycles and delivery timelines.

We encourage all relevant stakeholders to engage in constructive dialogue and work toward practical, predictable, and forward-looking solutions that ensure the uninterrupted movement of goods across European and regional supply chains, while preserving the integrity of EU border management systems.
